Austen Authors August 19, 2019: Racing to a Finish, and a Giveaway

PLEASE NOTE: The giveaway mentioned in this post has closed.

I was super excited a couple days ago to finish a book. The third book in my racecars series just kind of poured out of me. Since that’s my favorite way for stories to happen, I was elated, and when I finished, I was so thrilled I was bouncing off the walls. LOL I seriously didn’t sleep for thinking about the story and the next book in the series, and how I needed to finish Darcy’s Predicament, and what was I going to write next? I was a mess. 😉

In last month’s post, I updated you about Darcy’s Predicament and gave you an excerpt. At that time, I was making reasonable progress with the story, but I ran into a snag that kept me from writing more. I allowed myself to be frustrated for about a day and a half, but I have to write if I want to eat, so I made a quick decision.

You see, when I was praying about what to write a few weeks ago, I was led to work on the race book and another project I have going. I, in my infinite wisdom *cough*, thought to myself, “That race book is not going to sell enough. I’ll do the Regency.” Folks, God laughed. He might possibly have rolled his eyes, even. Certainly, He refused to give me words.

So, when I found I could not write more of the Regency, I gave in and worked on the race book. As I said before, once I pulled that story up, there was no stopping me. Someday I’ll learn to do what I’m told and not what I think I should. 😉

As I have begun doing with each book, I have a Pinterest board related to it. There I pin all the things I research for that particular book. Darcy’s Caution’s board is here. It contains an image of a nearby lake that I used for a model for one in the book, some images of tracks, a video or two of pit stops, and the dress Liz wore to Jane’s wedding.

Anyway, Race Book 3 has become Darcy’s Caution. I have no blurb for it yet, but I do have a cover, which I’ll share below. I have no definitive release date but anticipate it being this month. I need at least two weeks to edit, come up with a blurb, and format the book.

As part of this post, I am doing a giveaway. The details are below the cover image.
