News and Updates: Saturday, August 8, 2020

Welcome to (or back to) Austen Promises! Below are my news and updates for this week. Enjoy!

How are things your way? Are they as crazy for you as they have been for me?

In writing news this week, I got zero words on the page. It was just one of those insane weeks. I spent a while waiting on a guy for a basement inspection (second time) and got a call 20 minutes after our appointment asking me to reschedule because he wasn’t going to make it. (He has exactly one more chance.) After I got into my office a few minutes after I hung up the phone, I did financials and paid bills. That took up most of the rest of the day. I didn’t sleep that night, so I had two tasks on Tuesday: make laundry soap and do my weekly ads review. I managed to complete both those tasks and spent the rest of the evening watching a North and South DVD (the John Jakes version, not Elizabeth Gaskell’s). I had a grocery run on Wednesday and watched the next N&S DVD in the set, and then yesterday, well, I just kind of lounged around. Too many DVD’s, I think. 😉 LOL

I had an extra Austen Authors post last Friday, and my next regularly-scheduled one will be in about ten days, on August 17th. I don’t have a topic yet. I’m still thinking. LOL

If you’re a member of my Burton’s Babes Facebook readers’ group, you may have noticed I’ve reinstituted the Question of the Day. I sat down last weekend and planned August posts and searched for new questions. As long as I’m prepared in advance, I’m well able to stay on top of things. It’s when I don’t get the planning done that I falter.

Those of you who are members of Longbourn Literary Society, the Facebook group I run along with Rose Fairbanks and Leenie Brown, may have seen a notice I added that we are in the process of rebranding the group. I have reinstituted a Question of the Week there, and plan to do two live broadcasts each month from that group. Our goal, or one of them at least, is to bring you, our readers, quality content and news about our books.

I don’t have much personal news to report, other than Wickham goes back in the shop this coming Wednesday for a new drive shaft and rear axle seal. This is going to be one of those pricey trips. LOL

How are you doing, truly? Is your area still under stay at home orders? Are you able to come and go at least a little? Feel free to hit reply and tell me what you’ve been up to and how you are. I love to hear from my readers! <3
