News and Updates: Friday, December 25, 2020

Welcome to (or back to) Austen Promises! Below are my news and updates for this week. Enjoy!

I have managed to finish a book! Darcy’s Yuletide Wedding went live on Christmas Eve Day. I’ve already given my Patreon patrons their copies (except the $1 patrons … theirs is coming over the weekend), and I’ve given out ten freebies in my Burton’s Babes Facebook group and twenty to my newsletter subscribers. 🙂

If you’ve missed out on the freebies, I’ll be giving a couple copies away on January 4th, when I do my Austen Authors post. If you’d rather not wait, the book can be purchased at your favorite site via this link.

The print version of this book is under review. It should go live in a day or two. The large print version will follow in another couple days. I have to format that and make the cover. It shouldn’t take me more than a day or two, but … today is Christmas and I want to catch up on The Curse of Oak Island. 😉

For Kobo readers, my big bundle of books is again live on Kobo’s site. Here’s a link. I’m pretty sure it’s available via Kobo Plus, too. It should be, anyway. If it’s not and you want it to be (or any of my books, for that matter), please do let me know and I’ll get it enrolled.

My next project is a book I started in the spring or summer and abandoned. It’s still untitled, but I’ve been looking the plot and my notes over and making a new notebook for it. I’m already 13,000 words into it, but I may cut some or all of those. Time will tell.

I have made no writing goals for 2021. The failure to meet 2020’s goals was like a slap in the face. Heck, everything about 2020 was a slap in the face. LOL I have no desire to experience that again. I do plan to resume a regular publishing schedule. I want to write at least two of the four books I abandoned this year, along with two others. And, I want to finish race book four. If I can get those five books written and published, I’ll be very happy. 🙂

Speaking of writing, I am learning to “lean into” my strengths. I got the Christmas book done basically by binge-writing on days I had no errands. So, I plan to start squeezing blog posts and composing emails and things like that into errand days, which will leave other days free for me to write. I have already discovered the efficacy of carrying my plot notebook around with me on non-writing days; doing so keeps my mind in my story, even when I have to go a week between writing sessions. I may also make another attempt at learning to dictate stories.

I don’t normally talk about the blog here on the blog. LOL But, since I’ve not posted in a while …

The Great Reset that I forced on myself with regard to newsletters also applied to my blog. LOL There have been no posts for months. That being said, I do plan to jump start it in the next couple weeks. I have decided to continue Mondays with Austen, but modified. Instead of a write up, there will be a description and link(s). Some of those links will be affiliate links. Tuesdays will continue as they have been, and Thursdays will be vignette days, though I may post entire stories now and again. I will try to get my updates in on Saturdays, too.

In personal news, I had one of the best Christmases I’ve had since before my mom passed away. I had presents to open this morning (I’m writing this on Christmas Day LOL), and I had my traditional Christmas Eve celebration last night. All of you played a part in it, because you buy my books, which enables me to pay my bills and buy the turkey and pay the electric bill for the Christmas lights. So … thank you for helping make this such a great Christmas~ <3

If you celebrate the holiday, how has it gone? Were you able to see your family? Did you get a good dinner and a present or two? Feel free to drop me a line and tell me about it! I love to hear from my readers! <3
